Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Usually, telescoping boom lifts are used for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other kinds of lifts. For instance, workers can perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The bucket of the boom lift usually only holds a single worker. These buckets are more suitable to particular jobs such as electrical repair, rather than window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available in electric and gas configurations and are offered with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. As these units must be positioned directly under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use compared to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms that enable the operator controlling the lift to access a larger work surface once the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machinery, since they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for window installation or cladding, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good option for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a kind of utility vehicle utilized specially for vertical work. Generally, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand in addition to an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take workers to heights that would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to raise heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are a variety of different crane types which could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different types of equipment excel at different tasks and are suitable for particular applications and completing particular tasks.
