Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names like: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of equipment are essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models and "Rider" versions.
The walkie model as the name implies, is made to allow the operator to walk alongside the machinery as they pick up and transport cargo. The operator stands on a small platform on the Rider model. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is not recommended to lift and transport tall or unstable loads because there are no safety cages on these models. A rider can be the best answer if you are looking for an inexpensive way of moving loads from point A to point B. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model might be the best option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machinery is specially designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load with a purpose to facilitate manual unloading and loading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are typically very narrow aisle vehicles which can operate in aisles of less than six feet. They are extremely handy pieces of machinery during cycle counting situations as well as in physical inventories. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
