To give you an idea of the cost, a Nissan Propane Forklift dating from the late 1990s will run you about $11,000 to $14,000. More than likely, you will be able to find a unit such as this with less than 5,000 operating hours, around 15 feet of lifting capacity and cushion tires. However, a used Nissan forklift truck that has less than 5,000 hours can be found for under $7,000. This option may be a little bit of an older unit than some others, but bear in mind; everything revolves around the operating hours. A model like this will probably have a fairly good load capacity of roughly 5,000 lbs.
A new Nissan forklift, dating from the year 2005 to the current year, could be found for roughly $10,000. Typically, these models would have a typical lift capacity ranging from 4,000 to 5,000 pounds. Normally, a model similar to this will have cushion tires and run smoothly. Of course, newer units generally work smoother than older ones.
Kinds of Forklifts
The lift truck is normally categorized in 2 separate manners: by the kind of fuel it takes and the structure of the forklift. Based on structure, the following kinds of lift trucks are amongst the most common:
Standard Forklift: The standard lift truck comprises the regular warehouse machinery we are all familiar with. These lift trucks provide a lifting capacity of 3,000 to 5,000 pounds. They have a height capacity of roughly 20 feet.
Reach Forklift: The narrow aisle forklift and reach forklift are the type of forklifts found in distribution centers and warehouses which have limited storage space. Narrow construction means that it is not able to carry as much as a standard forklift model, although, it has an extendable mast which could easily carry loads around 40 feet.
Telescopic Forklift: Telescopic lift trucks are also referred to as telehandlers, telescopic handler or extendable reach forklifts. These kinds lift truck trucks are a more heavy-duty and rugged version of a regular lift truck. These models offer a telescopic boom which is capable of being extended out and raised up. Usually, these units are used on rough terrain. They can can move loads weighing over 30,000 pounds and are able to handle loads up to 70 feet high
Straight Mast Forklift: The straight mast forklift is most commonly used to perform tasks on rough terrain. These kinds of lift trucks could only transport loads vertically, not like a telescopic model. These models can raise loads up to 12,000 pounds, while reaching a height of 10 to 30 feet.
