Bud Bushnell founded Genie Industries in the year 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie came from the "magic in the bottle" which was utilized to lower and raise the hoist. This mechanism really impressed clients and hence, the name was established.
Genie has moved into numerous new markets, since the need for work platforms and lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in numerous new markets. For example, Genie went into manufacturing telehandlers, stick booms, light towers, man-lifts and articulated booms.
Genie decided to secure a partner who had the same values because of the economic recession in the beginning of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history obtaining equipment manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
During the initial years after the sale, it was decided to maintain the Genie brand within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, due to the name's solid reputation within the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in listening and taking advise from their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the quality and efficiency in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company focuses on providing outstanding support. These are the very work practices that have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for quality and top-of-the-line machinery.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the equipment must be driven significant distances, like in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator with the benefits of a 48V DC machinery.
Telescopic booms offer more horizontal reach, compared to any of the various aerial platforms. These machines are great for small areas or limited access areas in all types of settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to offer utmost productivity. These equipment deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need in order to travel around the job area and work site.
