Approximately 95,000 injuries take place in forklift related accidents on an annual basis. The vast majority of these accidents could have been prevented if proper safety procedures had been followed. There are also internet sites dedicated to reporting stories of forklift accidents.

Both businesses and individuals suffer as a result of forklift mishaps. There are numerous reasons why employers have to take steps to lessen the risk. Amongst the biggest reasons is to prevent possibility of lawsuits if someone is hurt. Secondly, accidents cut down on working time. Third, property and goods can be damaged during accidents. The majority of mishaps are attributed to employees who are not properly trained. Employers are responsible for making certain that workers who are using the forklift are correctly trained in risks and safety. Never let anybody on a forklift who isn't trained to use the forklift. Your business should develop and post in a visible location all forklift safety procedures.

Staff should have a positive attitude when they go through training, instead of doing it just because they are required to. You as the employer should help workers understand the significance of correct training. Let them know that they can injure or kill not just themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to make certain that all your workers undertake training seriously.
