Classifications of Aerial Lift Platforms & Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts and aerial platforms enable workers to work on high structures in a safe manner and allow them to reach objects and structures. These lifts and platforms provide friendly user controls to maneuver the base and the platform independently. This allows the machine to get around objects. There are a lot of available lift designs that are suitable for particular applications and settings.
Utilizing a series of crisscrossed connected steel arms, the scissor lift is designed to make an X patterned support system when the lift is raised vertically. Workers use a large rectangle platform which is connected to the top of the lifting mechanism. There are support railings along the edges to provide added safety.
Scissor lifts are great for pavement, compact and hard dirt surfaces and concrete since they feature a low profile. These machines use either a combustion engine or an electric motor to power the lifting device as well as the lift.
Rough Terrain Scissor Lift
The rough terrain scissor lift uses the same lifting technology as the standard scissor lift model. The rough terrain unit varies in that it features a specific base that is designed for surfaces which are not even. The rough terrain also provides all terrain oversized tires and a higher ground clearance. These models offer lower lifting heights overall because of the equipment's higher center of gravity.
Telescopic Boom Lift
The telescopic boom lift offers a telescoping beam which rises diagonally and vertically. This machine provides a small work platform equipped with controls to operate the boom. The controls utilize an IC or a combustion engine in order to power the hydraulics and lift the boom.
Articulating Boom Lift
Articulating booms have two telescopic booms connected together with a moving elbow. This lifting equipment provides a small work platform or a bucket equipped with hand controls which are used to control the boom. The articulating lift can reach over objects and on top of buildings.
